*Post event: It was a success! Hot and humid with a spot of rain at 2pm but we made the bulk of our cuts and donations beforehand so all good. We raised over $1500 for LLS! Thanks to everyone who came by!

What they do is either make tight mats (like a wool door mat) from the hair/fur and drop directly into the water. Or they stuff it into donated nylon stockings and create tubing or “booms” to do the same job.They are collecting all over the country and outside of the US for this effort. We are so excited to be part of the relief effort in helping fix the worst oil spill in HISTORY!

This campaign runs from April 8^th to June 17^th, 2010. Since 1949, LLS has invested in more than $680 million in the best researchers in the world investigating cures and treatments for hematologic malignancies. Many LLS supported advances help beyond the blood cancer patients for whom they were first developed. New treatments have enhanced and prolonged many lives.

In the US, more than 900,000 people suffer from these blood cancers.
